The third of four generations of musicianaries, Donna Leigh spent the first 25 years of her life traveling in ministry with her evangelist/musician/songwriter father, singing and ministering in churches across the country, and in other countries as well. ![]() For more than a year, her family had a nationally broadcast television program called "Something to Believe In", which aired on the PTL network in the late '80's. The show featured her father, Emmett Hinkley, preaching; and her family singing with a live band on a set that resembled a Christian nightclub. In 1992, Donna Leigh was asked, along with her dad and brother, to be part of a 12-voice "black gospel" choir, to sing backup for Grammy winner Michael Bolton as part of his Time, Love & Tenderness tour. As an adult, Donna Leigh basically just put one foot in front of the other for more than two decades . . . working "to make ends meet", dealing with health issues (including depression), failed marriage, raising her son, singing background vocals on occasion, leading worship for two small churches - and basically putting her dream (and God's plan?) on hold. She let the enemy tell her she'd waited too long - that she was too old, not talented enough, lacking in resources, etc. (oh, the things the enemy will say to get in the way of our dreams!!!). A series of events led Donna Leigh to realize that she needed to pull herself up by her God-given bootstraps and say, "Enough is enough! I'm a daughter of the most High King! I KNOW He gave me this talent and this passion for a reason!!!" DONNA LEIGH GOT HER VISION BACK!!! Because of her own life experiences, Donna Leigh is passionate about helping hurting people to see themselves through God's eyes, and to realize that they truly are the apple of His eye . . . to help them move beyond their fears and into His freedom . . . and to inspire them to pursue the dreams that He planted deep in their hearts. Donna Leigh makes her home in Orlando, FL, and is head-over-heels crazy about her 24-year-old son, Jordan (who is also her all-around favorite musician!). Her first solo CD was released in the Fall of 2009. |
